Experience
Backend Architect
The Rabbit Hole
Computer Games industry
June 2010 – October 2011 (1 year 5 months)
Backend architecture & development, database design & management, API design & development, website development, CMS design & development, RightScale implementation, management of cloud servers, development of server tools, social networks integration (Facebook, Hi5, WildTangent, Heyzap, etc.), payment systems integration, analytics.
At the Rabbit Hole I mainly took care of the backend side of a popular Facebook game called "Star Fever Agency", which had thousands of visitors every day. I designed the back end as well as the server solutions, which were based on Right Scale (in turned based on Amazon Web Services). I created the database architecture, error logging services, API's.. basically anything that was not in Flash, up to and including the JavaScript portion. I also connected the app with multiple social gateways such as Hi5, Heyzap, WildTangent, etc. as well as payment gateways including Super Rewards, Facebook Coins, Hi5, and more. Beyond that, due to the company being a startup, I had a variety of smaller responsibilities such as server maintenance, gathering and tracking of analytics, etc.
Linux Administrator
Sarbakan
Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Computer Games industry
August 2008 – June 2010 (1 year 11 months)
Linux server maintenance, internal tools development, client tools development, website analytics, database management, database design, active directory.
I originally joined Sarbakan as a Linux Administrator, which I continued to do for my duration there. But due to the small amount of Linux servers in their care I also worked on developing a lot of internal tools as well as customer tools. A lot of these tools were integrated with Active Directory as well as a MySQL database and occasionally a MSSQL database.
Junior System Administrator / Developer
Agency.com
Privately Held; 201-500 employees; OMC; Marketing and Advertising industry
September 2006 – July 2008 (1 year 11 months)
Employee helpdesk, Windows / Linux server maintenance, development of automation tools, IIS server maintenance, Active Directory maintenance, Intranet development, integration of various technologies.
At TBWA / Tequila / Agency.com I was primarily responsible for all Windows servers and the helpdesk but also worked with Linux servers at times, I also developed a lot of automation tools for employees such as scripts to automatically create development environments on an IIS server, automatic creation of customer directories with pre-configured permissions, Active Directory integration tools, etc. I also created an Intranet that integrated the various tools this company used. The intranet integrated Windows servers with Linux servers and communicated with Active Directory, a MSSQL server and a C# .net webservice.
Technical Support Agent
Teleperformance
Public Company; 10,001+ employees; FR 000051807; Outsourcing/Offshoring industry
January 2006 – May 2006 (5 months)
At Teleperformance I worked as a technical support agent at the VOIP (voice over IP - digital telephony) department, this meant I had to provide support for customers who were having trouble with their ADSL and VOIP Connection, support was given both by Phone and E-Mail.
Having spoken to customer over the phone for hours and trying to assist them with their problems really gave a boost in my abilities for technical insight and gave me some social skills I would otherwise not have had.
Developer & Creator
Divinia CMS
May 2005 – December 2005 (8 months)
Divinia CMS (later renamed to Divia CMS) was a CMS I developed for use on various freelance projects that I have done. It was developed using PHP and MySQL and focused on providing a lot of flexibility without sacrificing any usability. Meaning no pages with 50 form fields for different settings, but still giving the usability those settings provided.
Developer & Co-Founder
CrystalCore Internet Services
October 2004 – June 2005 (9 months)
CrystalCore Internet Services was originally a web design project I started myself, kept alive by word-of-mouth advertising until a friend became interested in what I was doing and we started a partnership. Seeing as he'd been running a small hosting company for a while, and he liked the name I had come up with we adopted it for our new, small company and started a service in shared hosting, gameserver hosting and webdesign. I made various tools for management of the servers and customers as well as a personal CMS for our website, which later evolved into Divinia-CMS.
Junior System Administrator
Everything About Computers
February 2004 – August 2004 (7 months)
EAC is a company that provides IT support to companies that are not yet big enough to be having their own IT department, for EAC I traveled across the Netherlands and sometimes Belgium to visit these companies and solve whatever problems they were presented with.
Apart from my work in supporting clients I also developed a support system in PHP where clients could easily submit support tickets and check the support database with frequent problems and solutions.
